Must See!

I have always loved The Muppets, anything and everything that has to do with the muppets I love love love.
I knew when I went in to see this movie it would not disappoint and it didn't
From the opening scene to the very end of this movie I was laughing till my gut was sore!
I loved how simple and fun this movie was not to mention smart as well. There were some pretty witty moments in this movie that were hilarious.
You didn't have to over think anything while watching this film it was something fun to just go and enjoy and not to mention the many musical sequences that were way fun.
Amy Adams and Jason Segel were an awesome choice for this movie plus there were a ton of cameos from many famous actors and one of the best ones I must say was of Jack Black, love it!
Bottom Line if your one of the many fans that loves The Muppets you'll really like this movie.

New Years Eve

Here's the thing, not everyone is going to love this movie. That is to say anyone without a heart will hate this movie.
New Years Eve was just as fun and entertaining if not more than Gary Marshall's 2010 Valentines Day which had essentially the same idea. Only this film takes us through the course of many different lives and events leading up to the new year.
I went into this movie hoping that it would be as good as Valentines Day which I enjoyed alot and given it had the same director I assumed that I would enjoy it. But alot of negative reviews frightened me into thinking that I would hate it and that it would turn out to be a terrible movie.
Boy were those reviews totally wrong.
Whats with the one star reviews people? This movie wasn't as terrible as most critics have said.
No there weren't Oscar worthy performances, but there were lots of heartwarming moments that made this movie what it is. I actually found myself awing out loud at some moments and thought what are people thinking? this movie is cute.
I can see how the fact that this movie had 5 different plots going on at once would turn people off, but I love how Garry Marshall put the story together.
I used to look up to Roger Ebert for his movie reviews, he used to be right on spot and I new if he hated something that it would be complete trash.
However lately he isn't completely trustworthy with his opinions on films.
The reason I say that is because he gave this movie one star and bashed it left and right.
Whats wrong Mr. Ebert? Too dumb to follow more than one storyline? I think it is time for you to retire.
Anyway I loved this movie! It is going to be a New Years tradition for me to watch it every holiday season.

Hugo

Martin Scorsese attempts for his first PG rated film and scores big time!
Hugo took me by complete surprise. I had no idea what this movie was going to be about.
I saw the previews and heard a lot of good buzz about it from major film critics and of course Martin Scorsese director of many award winners was responsible for this so I thought what could go wrong?
It was an amazing movie! Hugo truly is as previous critics have said a Masterpiece.
Hugo is not a copy cat Harry Potter as I have heard some people have said, its not even close.
There are no wands or magic spells in this film.
This movie is all about how movies became a true American pass time.
Its a movie that loves movies in a sense, it was absolutely Brilliant!!!
A lot of people think this movie was made for kids, its not.
Just because it was given a PG rating doesn't automatically make it a kid movie.
If you want a movie to entertain your kids take them to see The Smurfs or something that is equally ridiculous.
This film is Smart, Sophisticated and is sure to be an Instant Classic.
The Cast that was selected for this film was amazing! Not to mention Asa Butterfield who plays Hugo, talk about impressive!
I generally can't stand child actors anymore because their acting seems too cheesy for me.
But Asa pulled out all the stops and his side kick in the film played by Chloe Grace Moretz did an equally great job.
I also enjoyed the Great Ben Kingsley here as the long lost film maker he was excellent.
I could go on and on about how great this movie was but it is truly something to be experienced for yourself.

Super 8

Super 8 isn't something new, we've seen it before.
Super 8 is what I like to call a meatloaf movie. Why you ask do I call it a  meatloaf movie? Because it has a crap load of similarities we have already seen.
The film is a mix between E.T., The Goonies and Close Encounters.
It seems like Producer Steven Spielberg has ran out of original ideas so he dug up the scripts from some of his older movies ripped out the different parts from each and threw Super 8 together with the help of Director J.J. Abrams.
The first 80 Min's of the movie was okay. There were parts that drug on and there were only a few scenes that kept my attention.
The last 30 minuets was the worst. I was expecting this movie to be somewhat of a suspense thriller that included an alien, which it did and that it destroyed everyone and everything in sight which it did until the last few minutes of the film when it changed its mind and took off in its space ship and left everyone alone. What the crap???
What kind of ending was that? I don't understand why for the first hour of the film we are given a plot that could turn out to be a real horror flick and then turned into an after school special about how its okay when things don't go our way and the alien's heart grows 3 sizes and leaves in peace.
If you ask me the movie should have been titled Super Lame because it was.
Enough Said.

opening this week!

The Conspirator

Based on True Events following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, The Conspirator tells the story of the events leading up to and during the trial of Mary Surratt who was held accountable for harboring the Assassins who plotted to kill President Lincoln.
In this film James McAvoy gives one of his best performances as Frederick Aiken the man who was given charge to defend Mary Surratt (Robin Wright Penn) but refuses to do so knowing that she is already guilty for not alerting authority's on the secret meetings that were held in her boarding house that involved her son John Surratt as well as John Wilkes Booth.
Frederick is told if he can prove Mary's innocence then he will not have to be her attorney at the trials that are to take place.
As Frederick investigates the events leading up to the one of the most horrific events in our worlds history, he will discover that not only could Mary be innocent but that he may try to save her before she is sentenced to death for a crime she may not have committed.
Director Robert Redford did an Incredible job with this film. He kept the story fast paced and full of suspense till the very end.
The Conspirator proves to be one of the Best Pictures of the year!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

I'm just going to say it, I liked this movie.
True all of the Twilight films are a bit cheesy in their own way, but the plot and most of the acting is pretty good.
I at first did not like either Robert Pattenson or Kristen Stewart for the roles of Edward and Bella however with each twilight movie release they started to grow on me.... yes even Bella's awkward sighs and stuttering don't bug me as much as it used to.
I don't really have to explain what happens in the film because everyone has already either read the book or has seen the other movies prior and knows what to expect.
Their are a lot of haters of the Twilight Saga and I think they are a bit harsh, I mean really the movie franchise isn't as bad as people think. Just go with it and have a good time, even if you find yourself laughing at some of the more serious parts.

Jack and Jill

So here is the thing, Jack and Jill. Is it supposed to be one of the best pics of the year?
Is it supposed to be taken seriously as a movie? Not really.
Is it by chance one of those films that is to be enjoyed and not over thought?
EXACTLY!
I used to look up to film critics, but not anymore because their opinions are always wrong.
I loved this movie! The one thing that I loved more than anything about it was that I didn't have to think for two hours!!!!!
I was just able to sit back at the end of a long week and enjoy myself by laughing!.
I love Adam Sandler and anything that he puts together because his films are filled with non stop laughs and Jack and Jill was all Laughs.
Who cares if the movie isn't Oscar material? Who cares if Sandler plays a woman?
In my honest opinion that is why he is so funny, because he doesn't care what others will think of his movies.
He cares about the people who love off the wall stupid humor.
To make it short, if you are having a crappy day and want to do nothing more than laugh, then go see this movie. It sure made my day

Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides

I was Skeptical at first to watch this movie, but then I heard is was one of the best Installments in the Pirates Series so I gave it a shot.
Turns out that Pirates Of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides is the best!
I will be honest I loved The Curse of the Black Pearl but then we were cursed with Dead Mans Chest and At Worlds End which in my opinion were both a complete waste of 3 hours.
Thankfully Director Rob Marshall Brought back to life the magic that is Pirates.
In this fourth installment we follow the ever Infamous Jack Sparrow and new comer Angelica (Penelope Cruze) Into stranger tides in search of the fountain of youth and an adventure that will introduce us to Deadly Mermaids.
This Movie has action, action and more action to offer, not like the last two installments that included boring scene some action then more boring scenes that drug on and on!
I also love the fact that Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom weren't apart of this film. I thought it would be a mess that some of the original Characters wouldn't be returning however they were not missed.
Penelope Cruze was a brilliant choice for Jack's ex lover and the chemistry between the two was sizzling. Cruze was awesome as the daughter of Blackbeard and I was surprised at how well she fit into the mix.
This movie has to be one of the shortest pirates of them all but it isn't such a bad thing.
My recommendation is don't write pirates off just yet.
Make sure to see On Stranger Tides, Its well worth it.

Captain America The First Avenger

Captain America The First Avenger is your average marvel studio film.
It has the exact same story line you have seen in many marvel movies before this one, the only difference being is that this film has some qualities to it that don't make you write it of completely.
Chris Evans did a pretty good job as captain America.
I have to admit I was really skeptical about going to see this movie because I despise Chris Evans completely. I find him cocky and full of himself but he was okay in this film.
Now on to the plot of the movie.
The film started off on a good track with us getting to know Steve Rodgers and his story of wanting to serve his country, but due to how small and inadequate he is he is denied several times from being able to enlist.
He then is selected to become a super human model for his comrades in the army. This is where the movie starts to flake a little.
His whole physical appearance is changed so he can become an idol for all those serving in the war, pretty much he becomes an advertisement for World War II.
I was disappointed with the second part of the movie because all we get were bits and pieces of Captian America in Action. I found that really disappointing.
As for the Villain Red Skull, yeah I've seen better.
He didn't portray any of the villainous traits, he was just a big wuss with a skull for a face and a gun. That was all he brought to the table, Oh and I can't forget to mention the big futuristic plane he spends the whole movie in.
And the way he is destroyed is just plain STUPID! I wanted a smack down not what the director offered.
Oh well. That's all I have to say on the matter. You can go see this movie if you want but its not that great. The Acting was average, the writing at points was corny and the movie felt to rushed.
I didn't feel like I had a reason to care about any of the characters, especially the love story between Steve and Peggie. I didn't feel a need to root for them to make it as a couple. They exchange a few conversations with each other but nothing to make you ooh or awe.
To be honest I think Peggy is way shallow. To make my point she had no interest in Steve when he was a skinny wimp but wait as soon as he was magically given his new body she was all over him like white on rice.
Captain America did have some entertaining parts to it, but the story itself isn't anything new.

I give this one an C-

Modern Family has to be one of the most hilarious and heartwarming sitcoms to show up on TV in a long time.
I have never laughed out loud at a show so hard in my life!
Each Episode I find myself laughing so hard I'm afraid I might pass out.
One thing I like about this show is the messages it sends out about the importance of family as well as the importance of forgiving one another.
Modern Family is Clever, Witty and Down Right Hilarious!

Jane Eyre

If you want to see a film that is Romantic, Passionate and Intelligent then this is the one to see.
Jane Eyre is a worthy Adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's Classic Novel and is brought to life with a great cast.
The performances in this film were amazing, and of course we are graced with Judy Dench's presence in another roll that she masters, not to mention Mia Wasikowska who portrays Jane in a brilliant way.
The Love Story between the two main characters Jane and Edward Rochester is phenomenal! The Chemistry between the two is amazing.
Now days Hollywood believes that in order to have a movie be Romantic it has to contain sex scenes and nudity, well Jane Eyre was able to portray a great love story without either of those topics and I must say it was really refreshing to see a romance that didn't rely on sexuality but was still so full of enough passion to make you feel for the two main characters.
I really enjoyed this film, it may not be for everyone but if your looking for a great date movie then I say give this one a chance.

The Help

It may be a bit early for Oscar votes, but I am putting mine in now.
I think The Help is one of the Best Pictures to have been made in a long time.
I read the book prior to seeing the film because when a movie is based on a book I like to be able to compare the two, and the movie did the book justice.
Not only did the Movie follow the book well it also had top notch performances by all who were involved in the movie and helped bring the book to life.
I would like to compliment the three main Actresses Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Emma Stone. Talk about grade A acting. I have never been to a movie that had me so involved with the characters and wishing that they were real because this movie makes you feel for them and the issues they are dealing with personally in their individual lives.
This Movie pulled at so many emotions. It made me laugh, It made me cry and it broke my heart.
I Have so much respect for the African American Women who were so brave in a time of much trials. There really are no words I could say that would get the message across of how amazing those women are. Their examples are Inspiring.
You would think this movie was based on a true story by how well it was written.
The writer of the Novel Kathryn Stockett grew up with an African American Maid and loved her.
She said that her life's experiences with her families maid gave her the idea for the Novel.
At the end of the Showing I was in for this film, the crowd cheered and I couldn't agree more to how much this movie deserved it.
This movie was Beautiful, very well done.

Really?

So in the last six months There has been two movies released, Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached.
The two movies are about two friends who look to each other for sex and nothing more. Now there is a Copy Cat TV show Under the same title Friends With Benefits.
So what kind of message is Hollywood sending out? Are they really saying its cool to hook up with who ever you want just for fun and that being moral doesn't matter?
Way to Go HOLLYWOOD! That's pathetic.
